Cargo.toml quick start

The pieces of a Cargo.toml you edit most often, plus how to check them in the browser.

[package]

name and version are required for publishable crates. edition selects language features. description and license help crates.io and tooling.

Dependencies can be version strings or inline tables with path, git, and features. The [features] table composes optional dependency sets.

Load a Cargo sample from Templates, then Format or Schema-check the package table before you commit.
